Season Six

When Julia and Suzanne's cousin Allison purchases Suzanne's shares in Sugarbakers, everyone is under the impression she is to be a silent partner -- until the little "Leona Helmsley" shows up with plans to take control of Sugarbakers. Meanwhile, Anthony -- who is leasing Suzanne's house -- gets a shock when Allison moves in and calls the police on him, and Charlene's baby sister Carlene starts working part-time for the firm doing office work.

Julia spends a platonic evening out with Rusty for his birthday, but is afraid to ruin his evening by refusing a request for a second date. Instead, she guilts Mary Jo into accompanying them on a double date with a sleazy plumber. Meanwhile, Allison -- who is funding Carlene through college -- pressures Carlene to get better grades and allows her to arrange their own double date -- with teenagers!

Carlene gets a new apartment and invites everyone over for a slumber party. Not wanting to hurt her feelings, they all agree to attend -- unaware that Carlene's new pad is in the most dangerous part of town.

Anthony is chosen to direct a community theater production of Mame and convinces the ladies to audition. To everyone's delight, Julia gets the lead, but incites the wrath of the drunken former Broadway actress who is producing and co-starring in the show. Carlene tries writing greeting cards for extra money.

After Anthony is harassed by mall security guards because he is black, Julia forces the ladies to stage a much publicized sit-in --- much to Anthony's chagrin.

Carlene enters a contest to write the official theme song for Atlanta --- with Julia and Mary Jo helping her sing it. The girls are delighted when they receive help from a mousy admirer, despite Allison and Anthony's suspicions of her. Allison tries to prove that the girl can't be trusted, which only reinforces Mary Jo's faith in the girl --- even though she does feel a groupie for singing decorators is kinda odd.

The ladies agree to help Carlene take a group of girl scouts camping, but Mary Jo gets frustrated by Allison being able to better bond with the scouts. Meanwhile, Julia is irritated to find that the camping facilities for the girl scouts are inferior to those of the boy scouts.

The producers of a film Allison has invested in treat everyone to an all expense paid trip to Los Angeles --- putting them up in director Charles Nelson Reilly's home for the weekend. Unfortunately, he doesn't seem to have been consulted. Plus, the sweet art film has become a biker-chick movie and the producers want the ladies to oil up their bodies and straddle motorcycles wearing bikinis.

Julia questions her attractiveness as a woman after she is threatened with the possibility of a hysterectomy. Her co-workers and Bernice get trapped in the hospital elevator with the hospital workers on strike, and Julia's faith is renewed by a romantic doctor who serenades her with country music love songs.

Vanessa Chamberlain of the richest black family in Georgia rear-ends Anthony's car --- which leads to a potentially huge contract redecorating a large hotel chain. The ladies fear for the deal though after Anthony and Vanessa announce their engagement and her plans for Sugarbakers.
