While discussing the ill-fated Marla Maples-Donald Trump wedding, Mary Jo mentions that Allison's former boss is being released after spending two years in prison for insider trading. After she admits responsibility for putting him in jail, Allison is warned that Barry may want revenge for her damaging testimony. Though Allison tries to escape after learning he is on his way to Sugarbaker's, Julia insists that she stay to confront Barry.
When he arrives, no one is more surprised than Allison when Barry proposes marriage. Having no where else to turn with Barry monopolizing all of her free time, Allison enlists the other women to plan her wedding. Then on the big day, Allison is surprised to discover she has been jilted as part of a cruel hoax calculated to get revenge for her testimony.
Stunned by the truth, Allison goes into hiding at Sugarbaker's for three days following the wedding. During a visit by her partners, Allison learns that a tabloid newspaper features a photo of her and Anthony in an article that mentions they have been living together. Finally, Carlene produces the real Marla Maples, who advises Allison on getting over her public humiliation of Barry, while Julia calls Donald Trump and gives him a piece of her mind.
Additional Comments:
Barry Binsford was played by Julia Duffy's husband, Jerry Lacy.
Although Marla Maples had ended her engagement with Donald Trump shortly before this episode, they did eventually marry -- and divorce.
After the wedding fiasco, Allison went into hiding at Suzanne's house (where she was residing), not Sugarbaker's as stated above.
The news that Allison has been jilted arrives by a singing gorilla-gram, played by Andrew Bloch.
Classic Scenes:
MARY JO: (to Allison, who is concerned that Barry is out to get revenge on her) If he tries anything, you can just unleash your secret weapon -- and sleep with him.
Julia gets a hold of Donald Trump's private number and gives "The Donald" a call...
JULIA: Hello? Mr. Trump? I hope I'm not disturbing you. I'm just calling you to say -- on behalf of the American public -- Mr. Trump, we no longer care who you date, we really don't. You are no longer obligated to alert the news media everytime your pants are on fire because we don't care. So please feel free to fire all your hacks, flacks and publicists employed for this purpose because -- and I repeat -- we...don't...care! Who am I? Well, you've never met me, but you can just call me....The Julia.
