Natalie Hollingsworth - Administrative Assistant
Natalie Hollingsworth has taken on the duties of Administrative Assistant for Representative Sugarbaker. A self-proclaimed conservative, Hollingsworth feels that it is her duty and responsibility to take the naive Suzanne and turn her toward Republicanism. "Her husband was a Republican, and she's a Republican too -- she just doesn't know it yet," says Hollingsworth.
Having spent many years working under Congressman Ed Sharkey, Hollingsworth considers herself to be the most qualified and politically knowledgeable person on Sugarbaker's staff. "I saw working for Representative Sugarbaker as my chance to mold someone in my own image and put America right again."
In spite of Hollingsworth's attempts to keep the Congresswoman's image as squeaky clean as possible, Sugarbaker has a voice of her own and uses it regularly. She has also developed a friendship with President Clinton that Hollingsworth finds disturbing. One of the office staff quotes her as having said, "I guess I just don't understand her insipid little fascination with the President. They talk all the time -- like Regis and Kathie Lee."
According to outside sources, Hollingsworth has some skeletons of her own. She was reported to have had an ongoing affair with the then-married Congressman Sharkey while serving under him. The affair lasted several years and continued after he was imprisoned on bribery charges last year. Hollingsworth herself chose not to substantiate the rumor.
"Women in any position of authority are often assumed to have slept their way to the top. That doesn't make it true." She then went on to add about Sharkey, "Congressman Sharkey was a brilliant, decent man. Prison has certainly made him whiny and taken away his edge -- or so I've heard."
Hollingsworth takes her new position very seriously, with plans to mold Congresswoman Sugarbaker using her own experiences and insights. Independent Sugarbaker, however, has surrounded herself with a bevy of different personalities and points-of-views, including liberal Press Secretary Sissy Emerson. Once an award-winning journalist for the Washington Post, Emerson works closely with with the Sugarbaker camp and thinks Hollingsworth is wound a little tight.
"Some of these conservatives are so stiff and have no sense of humor. Natty needs to loosen her collar and let the blood out of her head before it explodes. She's not really a people person. She should have been running one of those Hitler camps for youth in the Alps," laughs Emerson.
"Emerson is just a little naive. She lets the feminists influence her too much. That is such old news, and really it's time to move forward," says Hollingsworth, who is very happy to have her party controlling Congress now. She goes on to add, "With Newt Gingrich in place, we're on our way to making this country great again."
And so we shall see.
